Creating Effective Teams

Working within an effective team can enhance performance; making better decisions; solving more complex problems; building knowledge, skills and morale - on the other hand, a dysfunctional team can destroy any chance of this happening.

When working within organisations, I often find that there are very talented people working very hard, getting very frustrated because they are not achieving the results they feel they should be; as a team they are not delivering. Working within a team can enhance performance; making better decisions; solving more complex problems; building knowledge, skills and morale - or the team can destroy any chance of this happening.

I am often surprised with the lack of investment leaders make in the development of their team (s) within organisations.

It requires different, but complimentory, skills to leading and developing individuals.

I work from the principle that; it is only when the leader and members of the team are free to do their absolute best, that extraordinary outcomes occur. This is extremely hard to achieve; it requires a high level of trust, courage and foresight on behalf of the leader and the team; it is more than a one-off event, it is an on-going process that initially requires a conscious investment in time, emotion and profit. I am convinced this investment will reap huge returns.
